After reading ‘Pumpkin Soup’ (the first book in this series about Cat, Duck, and Squirrel, an awful lot of families have reported going on to cook the real thing.

I wrote ‘Delicious’ to enchant the palate of unadventurous eaters with succulent words and aromatic pictures. May the scrumptious colours of vegetables, the riotous food gathering, and the rituals of culinary preparation in the old white cabin, encourage an appetite for exploring new foods, and even in cooking them. I also hope the story will be a comfort to faddy eaters like the Duck, while giving them just a little insight into how it feels if – like the Cat and the Squirrel- you are cooking for someone who is a little bit fussy.

Secret ingredients:

While the animals are exploring their taste for something new, the bugs, who had walk on parts in the other books, disgusted by the waste of good food, develop a secret recycling plant. For those who have asked to see more of the workings of the old white cabin, there will be a special treat.

Additives:

The pictures were prepared using water based, mixed media, and influenced by the graphics of fifties cookery writing, and botanical diagrams. They also include drawings from my spoon collection. And if you look very carefully at the spoon held by the smallest bug on the first page, you can see me looking back at you.
